FAQ

What is Enchanted Spoon & Co.?

Enchanted Spoon & Co. is a small-batch artisan food company rooted in the Land of Enchantment. We create bold, Southwestern salsas using real ingredients, traditional techniques, and an uncompromising approach to flavor. What we make is meant to be shared at the table—honest food with depth, heat, and character.

Where is Enchanted Spoon & Co. located?

We are proudly rooted in Northern New Mexico, where high desert landscapes, rich cultural traditions, and generations of Southwestern cooking shape everything we make. The region influences our ingredients, our flavors, and our philosophy—bold food, made with intention.

What makes your salsa different from store-bought salsa?

Most commercial salsas are designed to be mild, uniform, and shelf-stable at all costs. Ours are designed to taste alive. We build flavor in layers using fire-roasted chiles, vine-ripened vegetables, and carefully balanced seasoning. Texture matters. Heat matters. Nothing is watered down, masked, or softened to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Are your salsas hot?

Generally speaking, no-- but they can be, it depends. Only our Ghost Ranch Salsa elevates to what could be called "hot". That stated, some do carry a "kick" but they're on average mild to medium, and adjust the heat as needed—but all are balanced. We focus on depth and flavor first, letting the chiles do their work naturally rather than overwhelming the palate. But we know some like it hot!

How are your salsas made?

Every salsa is made in small batches. Ingredients are prepped by hand, chopped and blended to suit each recipe, seasoned in stages, and tasted carefully before jarring. We allow each batch to rest so the flavors can settle and marry properly before it ever reaches the table. A more in-depth take can be found on the "Salsas" page.

Do you use artificial preservatives or fillers?

No. We rely on quality ingredients, proper preparation, and time-honored methods. What you see on the label is what’s inside the jar.

Where do your recipes come from?

Our recipes are inspired by the Southwest—its food, its history, and its kitchens. Some are rooted in tradition, others are original expressions, but all are shaped by the same guiding principle: strong flavor, honest ingredients, and respect for the craft.

Is Enchanted Spoon & Co. a large company?

No—and we like it that way. We are intentionally small, hands-on, and involved in every step of what we make. That allows us to focus on quality instead of volume and character instead of trends.

What does “artisan” actually mean to us?

To us, “artisan” isn’t a marketing term to loosely throw around... it actually means we work in small batches, use fresh local ingredients, and pay close attention to the details. Making our salsas in an "artisan" way matters in order that we can stand behind what we put our name on. Meaning this— if  we wouldn’t serve it to our own family, it won't make it into the jar.

How best should your salsas be enjoyed?

However you like them—but they shine best chilled in a bowl with plain ol' corn chips (white or blue corn). A number of our customers like to try them with grilled meats, eggs, tacos, and anything that benefits with a spicy kick of Southwestern flavor. We don't think of our salsas as merely condiments... we make them to be a vital part of the meal itself..
